ATO Late Lodgement

The ATO is taking a stricter approach to late lodgement of activity statements, and penalties may apply where a BAS or IAS is not lodged by the due date.

If we prepare your BAS or IAS, it will be uploaded to FuseSign for your review and electronic signature once it has been completed. You will receive an email notification with a link to access the document.

Please review and sign your BAS or IAS as soon as possible after receiving it. If any changes are required, please contact your accountant at least 2 business days before the due date.

We are required to receive your signed authorisation before we can lodge your BAS or IAS with the ATO. If your signed document is not returned before the due date, we are unable to lodge it and it may become overdue.

If your BAS or IAS is lodged late, the ATO may apply penalties and interest. The ATO advises that failure to lodge penalties can apply where an activity statement is not lodged on time, and general interest charge may apply to unpaid amounts from the original due date. General interest charge is calculated daily on a compounding basis.

It is your responsibility to ensure your BAS or IAS is reviewed and signed before the due date. Delays in signing and returning the document may result in penalties or interest being applied by the ATO. Any request for remission is considered by the ATO based on the circumstances and is not automatic.

If you have any questions, please contact our office on (08) 8299 8888.
