The client

Horder Communication Solutions (HCS) is the culmination of John Horders’ 40 plus years in the Electronics and Communications industry, having led the company through the development of cutting-edge technologies for the communications industries including Optical Fibre, Resources Camp Communications, AV, Data Cabling, Security and Networking. Working alongside wife ‘Janice’ who John describes as his rock and muse, the pair have developed the business into a solid performer. While John focuses on providing clients with communication solutions, Janice administers the back end of the business keeping him abreast of the company finances, while son Karl is now running HSC’s expanded operations on the Gold Coast. The ‘can-do’ attitude of HCS has seen them establish and manage complex communications infrastructure for a host of leading-edge clients including Fortescue Metals Group, Chevron, Thoroughbred Racing SA and the Adventure Whitsunday Resort.

The challenge

John proudly describes HCS as a small company kicking massive goals. This flexibility allows John to take on projects that are at the forefront of communication technology and innovations. However, this flexible business model, can leave HCS vulnerable to the whims of clients, who fail to meet financial obligations for the services. With business booming John needed assistance with accounting and advice on his business operations.
